Who is la Vergara?

In the peasant tradition of the early twentieth century in Central Italy, particularly in the Marche, the Vergara is the female head of the family who takes care of running the house, while her partner is busy in the fields.

Vergara takes care of the family, looks after the animals, and she is responsible for the economic stability of the house. This role requires discipline, determination and a lot of love.

We at LaVergara believe that everyone has the right to enjoy the pleasure of good food, without suffering for food restrictions due to health reasons or personal choices.

With the same determination and love that the Vergares of the past put into managing the house and preparing meals, we looked for Marche producers that follow this philosophy.
